Robert J. Murray, Esq.

Robert J. Murray is the Principal Attorney of The Murray Firm, LLC and is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California. Robert dedicates his practice on protecting the rights of seniors, veterans, special needs individuals and their families.  As a VA Accredited Attorney, Robert works closely with veterans and their families to help them access both healthcare and pension benefits.  Robert is a compassionate advocate and planner for individuals and families facing challenges arising from aging and disabilities. 
 
Robert is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the New Jersey State Bar Association - Elder and Disability Law Section, the Morris County Bar Association, and Elder Counsel.
 
Robert earned his undergraduate degree from the Carrol School of Management at Boston College with a major in Accounting and his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in San Diego, CA.  
 
Outside of his practice, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda, and sons, Bobby, Connor and Luke, coaching and playing tennis, and cheering for his hometown New Orleans Saints. ​

Katherine Mirett, Esq.

​Katherine Mirett joined our firm in 2022 and is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. Personable and detail oriented, Kate guides clients through the process of estate planning and the administration of estates and trusts.
 
Kate earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude, Order of the Coif and served as a Senior Editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. Prior to joining our firm, Kate was an associate at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP in New York.
 
Kate spends time outside of her practice with her husband, Matt, two young sons, Ben and Ryan, and their trusty dog, Comet.

Robert A. Bernstein, Esq. has over 35 years of experience in navigating through the complexities of estate law and elder law. His main office is in Parsippany, NJ however he has satellite offices from Bridgewater, NJ to Mahwah, NJ in Bergen, Essex, Union, Passaic, Morris and Somerset counties for the convenience of his clients.  He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.

His practice extends into the specialty areas of Special Needs Planning & Guardianships as well as Same Sex Estate Planning.

Mr. Bernstein is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and a member of the Trust and Estates and the Elder Law and Disability Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Melissa Malinak
Legal Secretary

​Melissa joins us from a general practice law firm in Connecticut. While there she specialized in Estate Administration. Melissa enjoys the elder law focus as it allows her to help clients navigate through difficult times. Currently Melissa is working on getting her B.S. in Social Science.
 
Melissa enjoys reading, hiking, and gathering random bits of trivia. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and camping at the Beaverkill in the Catskills.
Sydney Shephard joined The Murray Firm in 2025 as a paralegal with a dedicated focus on estate planning. She brings a well-rounded background in elder law and Medicaid planning, having previously worked at a prominent law office in Morristown, where she assisted attorneys with the drafting of Wills, Trusts, and a range of estate-related documents. She also managed Medicaid cases directly while working at a Skilled Nursing Facility in Troy Hills, gaining first-hand experience navigating long-term care and benefits eligibility.
Sydney earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from The College of New Jersey, where she honed the analytical thinking and writing skills that now support her success in the legal field. Her attention to detail and commitment to client-centered service make her an integral part of the firm’s estate planning team.
Outside of the office, Sydney enjoys staying active through running and hiking new trails. She’s equally happy relaxing with a good book by the beach.

Taylor Davis
Paralegal
​Taylor Davis joined The Murray Firm in 2025 as a Paralegal, bringing with her a strong foundation in estate planning and a client-centered approach to legal support. A graduate of Kean University, Taylor earned her Bachelor of Arts in History with a concentration in Pre-Law in 2020, followed by a Paralegal Certificate from Texas A&M International University in 2023.
Taylor began her legal career in Marco Island, Florida, after relocating there in 2021. During her time working alongside leading estate planning attorneys, she developed hands-on experience drafting property deeds and preparing essential ancillary documents. Her early work was defined by a dedication to helping clients navigate the complexities of estate planning with clarity, precision, and empathy.
Now back in her home state of New Jersey, Taylor is passionate about guiding individuals and families through the estate planning process while fostering meaningful client relationships. Her attention to detail, compassion, and commitment to exceptional service make her a valued member of The Murray Firm team.
Outside of the office, Taylor is a dedicated fitness enthusiast. She enjoys riding the Peloton, weightlifting, and practicing yoga. A Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance since 2020, she has taught over 1,000 hours and holds a specialized certification to teach First Responders. In her spare time, she also enjoys exploring New Jersey’s rich history and visiting local landmarks.
